Hi all, today I was parallel parking when the wheel became hard to steer. The problem disappeared after moving in normal speed but appeared again when manouvering slowly. Have anyway experienced something like this before? Thanks

The operating manual stated something along the lines that if you make lots of low speed maneuvers, especially in city mode, it can overheat the steering motor. To protect itself, the power steering then goes into a reduced assistance mode until it cools down.

If it doesn't 'cure' itself in 30 mins or so, then is not overheating, and needs immediate servicing, as mentioned above.

Theres nothing wrong with it. Its designed to go still as for over heating. The reason i know this as it happened to me loads of times. As im a driving instructor theres loads of low speed steering going on. When i took it back to the vauxhall garage after multiple time of it going stiff. They phoned head office tech and they said, if it was bought new as a instructors car, they usually upgrade something or put the values up on the limits. So wouldnt happen so much. Its from overheating and they couldnt do anything about it at the time. But it does free it self up after a few mins.
