ECU checks (when under warranty)

Hi.

Obviously any engine problems (during warranty) would lead to a check of the ECU...but at what other times would VX check it? Does it happen during any of the services for instance? Or maybe just the Big service, not the little one?

Any ideas?

Scooby.

Most dealers probably wouldn't have the equipment needed to see if it's been remapped if that's what you're getting at?

That being said, they might be able to see something has changed if the checksum digit has changed from what it should be due to files being modified. So then would probably get suspicious and maybe investigate further if it's a big warranty claim such as engine and/or gearbox.

I'd imagine it only gets checked if/when any updates are due for it, as time is money and on a service it's not something they'd look at I don't think.
