Hi guys, sometimes when I'm accelerating, there is a clicking noise that comes from the engine, today at around 2500/3000 rpm, when I was in 4th gear it made the noise, have the ability to hear it with the windows up and down, only does it for a second but I cannot recreate the problem it just happens randomly, anybody else had this problem? And would it possibly be the turbo or something clicking? Any ideas welcome!

Could be the relay that is something to do with the turbo. My Ibiza does the same at around 2000rpm. When I first got mine back in 2011 it was a common thing that was fixed by changing the relay but I never got mine done as it doesn't bother me at all. Edit: I just checked an old thread on the Ibiza forum and it would appear that it was the fuel supply relay, and the click coincides with an increase in power.

Maybe you could mention it to the dealer and see what they say as it may be something else in the Corsa? In the Ibiza, it clicks at around 2000rpm and then again when it drops below but I never took her back about it. I'm used to it now! I've just had another read over the thread on the SEAT forum, and a couple of people had the relay replaced or moved (apparently on the Ibiza this particular relay is in/near the fuse box under the dash, hence being quite audible). My brother also had an Ibiza about a year older than mine (one of the first TSI engines back in 2010) and he never bothered getting his fixed either.

Phillips,

I would get this checked by the dealer because mine doesn't make any noise like that although mine is a 1.4T.

I believe you mentioned in another post that your 1.0T lacked power for overtakes on country roads. I live in a rural area and have done thousands of overtakes in my 1.4T and it is a very quick little car and easily capable of overtaking in short distances on winding A roads. It sounds like your engine may be down on power as the 1.0T can't be that much slower the 1.4T, maybe the clicking noise is related as that would be about when the turbo kicks in.

This is what I posted on a different post.....

"Although I love the way the car looks and drives, build quality seems to be an issue for me. Car is going into vx again tomorrow to get a new passenger door card as it has a loud rattle/squeaking noise which can be heard so easily with no radio on. Bit frustrating. Also I'm having an issue whereas sometimes when I accelerate my 1.0t seems to lose power for a few seconds, judder slightly and has like a clicky/knocking sort of sound from the drivers side of the engine bay. No idea what this could be. I've not raised the issue to vauxhalls attention as they will probably just say they can't find anything wrong and naturally when they test the car it won't do it as it is intermittent under acceleration between 1500-3000 rpm"

Yes James, that sounds very similar, I wonder if it's just an issue with 1L T, I'll keep an eye on it and try recreate the issue! But so far I've had no luck just randomly happens! I've also experienced a rattle from that side but I just hit the glove box and the door and it stops for a while! If you do raise it up with Vx when it's in, please forward on anything they say about it if they give you any useful information!

They said nothing on it, as expected. They said they could book it in to have a look another time but they were on a schedule or some bollocks. Which is irritating as it didn't do it to them when they give it a quick thrashing up and down the road a few times ( I only know they did this because my mpg dropped significantly). But then it wouldn't do that as i told them it only happens at that certain point in the rev range. Suppose it's under warranty if anything goes wrong but still, it doesn't sound very good when it happens

Hi there guys
Mine does exactly the same thing
I have a 1.0LT turbo and it will have a small lose of power, and lots of clicking. Random times and usually between 2500 - 4000 rpm

It's bloody annoying. But to be honest my corsa has had a few issues. Mine is also telling me that the bonnet is open (when it definitely isn't) so it's going back to vx soon.

I noticed it happens just as turbo kicks in and it loses acceleration for half a second its very annoying its a brand new car it should not have this problem closest thing i can compare the noise to is a clicking cv joint

I've got the 1.4T and never heard clicking just rattles lol but saying that I can't ever tell if the turbo is kicking in for all I know it probably doesn't work

You can't tell when it really kicks in because it's a modern turbo. If you had an older turbo, you'd probably end up in a ditch on your first drive.

 I didn't, but my dad used to have various turbocharged motors, and it was scary occasionally

Yup, I personally owned an 1980's MG Montego Turbo and also had an 80's Escort RS turbo on loan for a few weeks. Both had violent power surges at around 2500rpm that would result in the front wheels spinning up in almost all gears when gear changing under harsh acceleration. Frightening on a wet roundabout where a gear change would result in the car throwing itself sideways into the next lane.....
