The new 2015 Corsa will debut at the Paris Motor Show 2014 In the meantime, we had a first contact, in preview form....

The Corsa can be easily defined as the key model of Vauxhall. In the space of 32 years and four generations in Europe (Vauxhall and Opel) they have sold nearly 12 million units, of which 2.8 million of the current generation. The latest evolution of the famous super mini is now ready to make its debut at the Paris Motor Show 2014 (October 4 to 19). While waiting for the show we had a fleeting encounter with the new Corsa , which will be available in three and five-door when it comes off the production line in Zaragoza and Eisenach by the end of the year.

The new Corsa will have numerous driver assistance systems including the Alert Angle Blind Side Blind Spot Alert and the Opel Eye front camera with recognition of road signs, the alert in the event of involuntary limits are exceeded roadway Lane Departure Warning The Highbeam Assist High Beam Assist, an indication of the safety distance Following Distance Indication and warning incident Forward Collision Warning. The customer may also make use of the aid brought by the Advanced Park Assist and assistance in hill starts, provided dall'Hill Start Assist. The design we have been told directly by Kurt Beyer , Chief Designer Opel.

Alongside the Corsa, sporting three-door variant, Kurt wanted to start the discussion pointing out that the look of this car is designed to look more fresh, more sophisticated and more character.

He continued the speech by saying:

In the design of the new Corsa we tried to keep the car as compact as possible outside. At the same time the front has been "squashed" down, to give a form very slender. We focused a lot on the front, as it represents the face of the car. The end result is a "face" characterized by intriguing headlights with daytime running lights led from the form to "wing", the typical signature Opel, and a large trapezoidal grille that includes dynamic bar with large Opel logo.

The sculpted flanks are characterized by the typical "blade" Opel, which is different on each model. From this perspective, a further element of aesthetic relevance is given by the final extension of the window. This portion has a functional role: lengthen the final part of the window, to further enhance the dynamic side. In the rear the wide headlights "split" (running expensive, can greatly increase the feeling of premium cars) visually widen the car and flowing through the rear shoulders make it more planted on the ground. The rear of the three-door, inspired by the Opel Astra GTC, is much more aggressive of the five-door model. This is because the appearance of the five-door hatchback is less sporty but more familiar and functional.

The feeling that he must transmit the new cockpit, at first sight, is of spaciousness. We have worked with this goal, playing with the horizontal lines. In this regard, the dashboard has a horizontal and the center console, with the adoption of touch screen monitors, has been simplified. The horizontal approach is echoed by the line of decoration / finish, which goes from one side of the car. The latter will be available in a satin or colored, reflecting the tone of the body. The front seats also in their side "b" are "carved out" to provide more legroom for rear passengers.

I'm surprised that Vauxhall are rolling out design elements of the Adam to its mainstream models. I thought the Adam was supposed to appeal to those wanting something a bit different, with a special interior, but its going to end up just being a smaller version of any other Vauxhall
