Replacing Rear Seat Belts

Post by JimG » Wed Jan 02, 2019 8:19 pm

Hi everyone, new member here!

I have just purchased a 2 year old Corsa E, It looks like the rear seat belts have been chewed by the previous owners dog! I'm fairly sure that it will fail its first MOT because of it.

So, I've managed to get some replacement belts and have all that I need to replace them myself. However I am a little nervous of taking off the trim which covers the rear side air bags - within which one of the set belt bolts are located - in case it activates it lol! Should I leave well alone or is the trim removal quite straight forward.

Thanks in advance!

The trim should lever off quite easily. The airbags are activated by impact sensors, not by gentle fumbling around or thumping with your palm, otherwise they would be going off every time kids sit in the back seat!

How did it go Jim? I'm about to the same thing. Any tips? I just had a quick look the other day and it wasn't obvious to me how to remove the trim to reach the belt.

To be honest basthian I lost my nerve in attempting to take off the trim. I was afraid of breaking it as it didn't seem to want to prise off too easily.

The first MOT is due next month. I have left the 'new' seatbelts in the boot and and so if it fails on the seatbelts I will tell them to fit those. The money I saved in getting the seatbelts from ebay compared to the main dealer price would be consolation enough

Ok. I'm gonna give it a try then. I found instructions on how to remove the trim for the Corsa D so I'm hoping it's similar.
