Switch off engine for fuel economy?

Post by 1.4autoenergy » Thu Nov 29, 2018 1:53 pm

I've read somewhere that switching off the engine at red lights will decrease fuel consumption if the car has an engine with fuel injection (because this way the ignition wouldn't increase fuel consumption). Is that true? And has the Corsa E 1.4 automatic an engine with fuel injection?

Does your car have stop/start?

I have the 1.4T 100 Manual, If i put it in neutral and take my foot off the clutch it stops the engine, clutch back done starts the engine. Unless the car decides it needs the engine running, e.g. for Heat or Cooling (Air Con) then it will switch itself back on when needed.

Does not appear so.

The manual only refers to

Vehicles with manual transmission
automated:
If the vehicle is at a standstill with the
brake pedal depressed, Autostop is
activated automatically, indicated by
control indicator D.
Release the brake pedal or move
selector lever out of D to restart the
engine. Control indicator D
extinguishes.
Stop-start system 3 135.

Which I assume is the EasyTronic gearbox?
