Which corsa e should I buy?

Post by Mostyn » Sun Sep 16, 2018 2:52 pm

Hi Guys, I’m new to the forum , I’m going to buy a corsa e for my next driving school car and just wounded what’s your opinion on what to buy, I’m looking at a corsa sting 1.4 eco flex and a corsa sting r 1.0t, I need a low tax and insurance car to keep my overheads as low as possible as I have left a big uk wide driving school and now gone on my own so I’m fully independent, I’m also a fully qualified mechanic and I worked as a technician for Vauxhall for 6 years before a career change so I have loads of experience with the 1.4, I have no experience working on the 1.0t and never drove one, any help with be fully appreciated.
Thanks guys.

I believe there have been some issues with the 1.0 Turbo cars. there is a few threads on here about them.

I have had my 1.4 90 ps sting for 3 and a half years and did 30,000 miles in it and the only issue I had was the coil pack.

it was replaced under warranty.

I wouldn't worry about choosing a 1.0T. It's also used in Adam and Astra, and i don't think there's anymore problems with them than there is with any other engine.

We have a 67 1.4 Diamond and it’s been an excellent little car. The only thing I wish it had was a six speed box as it does rev quite high on the motorway. This can be a bit annoying on long journeys.

Given what the car is going to be used for. My brain would go with the 1.4 75bhp version.

It's insurance group 3 vs 11 for the 1 litre turbo. So that's a no brainer.
There is also far less to go wrong given it's a traditional tried and tested 4 cylinder naturally aspirated engine.

Could throw the 1.4 turbo into the mix, but then that's kind of defeating the object of keeping things as cheap/simple as possible.
But that would be the one to go for if you wanted the extra power. They've more torque than the 1.0T you don't have to rev them as much to get the same go apparently.

Specs below...

1.4 88bhp - https://www.parkers.co.uk/vauxhall/cors ... -3d/specs/
1.0T 113bhp - https://www.parkers.co.uk/vauxhall/cors ... -3d/specs/
1.4T 99bhp - https://www.parkers.co.uk/vauxhall/cors ... -3d/specs/
