I had a 1.2 sting as a courtesy car and it seemed pokey and a decent little noise too it. The gearbox on that was much more smoother and less noise to it, think it was a 16 plate.

Asked the Q at my Vx dealer his reply

" I think that you will find that the fault has been noted and corrected as there was a recall on them that started at the beginning of the year."

Anybody else had this done ?

I have this engine and had no recall for the gearbox. Sometimes for non urgent stuff they wait until the car goes in for a service to carry out works. My gearbox is clunky and noisy and I'm nearing a mere 11k. She's a 65 plate.

Did he say what exactly the recall was and what work was done to try to fix it? Mines in for it's service tomorrow so I'll ask if there is a recall for some work on the box.

I have not been back to garage to ask. If we change it will be a 1:4na, to many problems showing on here with the 1:4T

Don't count on it! Mine had a service in February and still as clunky as ever I even asked if they could look t it, its normal they said. If the car had this gearbox and people noticed it from the off it wouldn't of been on sale! It's not until a few months down the line you feel and notice your left arm got bigger ( keep on track your dirty buggers lol) . Our car is now suffering on 3rd gear now
