VX known about this since 2016, you should be able to get it done for free.

I had to pay £95 but im trying to claim it back

Did you manage to claim back the money? I've just called my dealer regarding this issue and because there is supposedly nothing outstanding on my vehicle they believe they need to carry out at £140 diagnostic even though I can tell them the issue!! Incredibly frustrating and the only way the service team told me I could do it is have the diagnostic carried out and the software update completed then try and claim the money back which isn't guaranteed vauxhall will refund it...
they refused to refund, they gave me a £100 voucher instead

Hi everyone!

I've found a solution in a german Corsa forum site, that I'd like to share with you. That's why I'm a newbie here, I just registered to help you.

Firstly I bought a new USB data cable, because the previous one has been broken. The new one is a high quality flexible cable and costs only about 5 pounds (at least in my country)
The cable model is:
AXAGON BUCM-AM05SB 0,5m USB-C USB-A data cable

So the solution I've found to get the latest Android Auto version (4.9.594934-release arm64-v8a) work is as follows:
- Make sure that Deezer application is installed on your android phone (I've a Sony Xperia 10 mobile with Android 9)
- Before connecting your phone to your car start Deezer application
- Start to play any song in Deezer application then pause it, leave Deezer application running in the background
- Connect your phone to your car
- After a couple of seconds Android Auto icon should appear on your car's display
- If Android Auto icon is not showing on your car display, don't panic, just enter Deezer application on your phone and start to play a song. Now after couple of seconds Android Auto icon should really appear on your car's display. On success you can pause Deezer playing music.

A checked my Corsa's IntelliLink version and it's rather old 12.6.2, still managed to work with newest Android Auto.

Despite of this tricky solution, I'm planning to upgrade my car's firmware to the latest one, but I haven't got a confirmation yet from my dealer.

I hope it helps you fellows. :)

Good luck,
Vittorio

Hey everyone. I was having the exact same issue but found a solution. Does appear to be an app issue instead of the usual cable issues. I read a different forum which suggested downloading the earlier version of the Android Auto app. I used the website:
https://androidapksfree.com/android-aut ... rhead/old/

And downloaded the september version. Delete the app off your phone before downloading from the site and disable auto updates from the play store. It isn't the newest version of the app but it got it working again for me so I'm just grateful for that ha! Not ideal but going to just use the older version until an app update is released sorting the issue. Hope this helps.

YES!

This works... means you can't use the newer version but clearly that's what is causing all these problems.

Thank you! :D

I'm back again after posting the original question, but getting a new phone. A Google Pixel 3A.

I am most dismayed to read the replies on here, I am unable to 'roll back' the app or uninstall it, as since Android 10 it comes pre-installed.

It appears my only option is to try some workaround that isn't guaranteed to work. Or pay a Vauxhall Dealer to sort the issue as for some reason, they won't do over the air updates like every other device out there.

I'm pleased with my car generally, nearly a year on, but the intellilink has been a massive let down. Promises so much, yet delivers so little, DAB barely ever works and that was one of the main reasons I got the car. Worked on the test drive, but barely anywhere since.

I'll email Vauxhall and try and get some official clarification on the matter.

Lets be clear, no car infotainment system is like an android phone as they also control a multitude of things in the car than an android phone does not and software written for them is completely different to a phone so they are not designed to receive updates over the air.

The only updates you may receive are DAB in relation to radio stations

Your only option is to bite the bullet and pay the dealer to update the software and switch off the auto update on Andriod auto.

I have DAB issues on mine where the signal is intermittent so I will need to get my Intellilink 4.0 updated from the dealer

if you leave near Newcastle you can contact Intellilink Mods as he does updates cheaper than the dealer

After trying 5 different USB cables I eventually got it sorted by buying a juice cable and it worked straight away

I'd love to use intelilink mods, but I'm 250 miles away.

Are there any others - getting increasingly annoyed at Vauxhall. Emailed the customer service as I thought that I'd get a better chance of a definitive answer from them - no reply.

Emailed my local dealer who I bought the car from - put in a false number and asked could they reply by email (as I want to get it down in black and white that it will sort the problem and not waste money on a fix that doesn't work) but they just ignored it and pulled my number up off their system, so I just ignored the call and they've neither left a message nor got back since.

After spending nigh on £8,000 with them, it's frustrating that they can't follow a simple instruction.

Tried googling for an Intellilink specialist down here (High Wycombe) but can't find any. Does anyone know of one?

Hi all,

My wife purchased a 2016 Corsa E Energy yesterday.

When we tried to connect her Huawei P30 Pro phone via Android Auto we came across the problems described previously in that the projection to the car’s screen wouldn’t work.

I realised that the screen in the car would start working for Android Auto as soon as she received a WhatsApp or text message.

This led me to thinking that the system was working, but needed something to trigger it. From this I think I’ve come up with a workaround which I’ve not seen described in the posts I’ve seen.

1. Plug the handset into the USB port in the car.

2. Assuming that the phone is already connected via Bluetooth, you should see a prompt on the car’s touch screen with a message telling you that connecting to Android Auto will disconnect the Bluetooth. Choose “Switch”.

3. The screen of the phone may flash a couple of times, and in the case of the wife’s Huawei it gives an option of USB charging only or various kinds of data connection - if this happens just press cancel.

4. If you look in the notification area of the phone you should see an Android Auto icon - this tells you that the system is actually working on the phone side. Now to get it to wake up the screen in the vehicle.

5. On the steering wheel you should have a button with an icon of a head on it. Press this for 2 seconds. This should trigger the Google assistant on the phone (there is a possibility that on the first try the phone might ask you to choose a default - if so, choose the Google option and then press ‘Always’).

6. Android Auto should have now kicked in and be showing on the screen in the car.

7. However, your radio may have stopped playing, and there is a chance that Spotify or similar might have started playing through the car’s speakers. To resolve this, press the steering wheel button with the head on it for 2 seconds. You will hear a prompt - at this point say “Stop music”. The car system will switch back to the radio, but will leave Android Auto on the screen.

I hope that all makes sense and works for you!

I've found a workaround that seems to be working for me. So far it's worked every time I've tried it. I'm using a Samsung Galaxy s10

1.Plug the phone in, wait for it to try to switch to android auto.

2. Open Twitter and load a video (any video at all)

3. Press the home button on your phone (don't need to wait for the video, as long as its loaded that's enough)

Android auto should automatically boot up on the car screen.

It's not ideal, but better than nothing

Recently purchased £10 USB lead from Tesco. Plain white one. That recognised it and connected android auto.
