Smart Battery Charger

Post by SlazeRaider7 » Mon Jan 11, 2021 4:59 pm

Hi,

Car is : Vauxhall Corsa 1.4 sri hatchback (2016 model - Ecoflex).
The car uses a Varta AGM battery.

During the current lockdown I won't be using the car
so I would need to buy a trickle charger to keep the battery
in good working order.
Halfords offer a "Ring 6V/12V Smart Car Battery Charger",
price £40. They state it is suitable for AGM batteries.

Has anybody used this product ? Is it any good ?
Are there better smart battery chargers for Corsa's
with AGM batteries out there ?

Thanks.

I have a Halfords own brand smart charger costing over £50 which seems to have worked up to now though it isn't used very often. Like most things, I guess you get what you pay for.

I'm no techie, but someone raised a question in that will they work through the aux socket/cigarette lighter, if they are only live when ignition is on/key turned, as this would seem to defeat the object of fitting one?

Having car stood for long periods doesn't do it much good

Just go for a leisurely drive as a means to charging the battery rather than relying on boosters

Maypole MP7423 Electronic Smart Battery Charger

Went for the next model up with bay discount
purchased the MP7428 8A 12V Electronic Smart Charger
Off e-bay looks a very good piece of kit, full instructions included with the charger. supplier sent very quick well packed, would use them again.
