1.4n/a or 1.0T

Post by mattcranny4 » Tue Sep 12, 2017 5:48 pm

Hi Guys,

I'm looking to get myself a Corsa LE but I'm not sure whether to get the 1.0T or the 1.4n/a. In an ideal world, I'd love to get the 1.4T but none are in my price range (£7000). I've read that you have to rev the nuts off the 1.0T but then the 1.4n/a produces little oomph...

If someone could advise me in which direction to take it would be greatly appreciated?

Ive seen a bunch of reviews that praise the 1.0T as one of the best engines of its type. The 1.4 seems to go slower and drink more.
Good luck! The corsa is a great car!

1.4T (100) is the best of the lot. I've driven all three, the 1.0T has both its limitations, and is prone to failure. The 1.4 N/A is useless for overtaking anything and not particularly frugal, yet the 1.4T delivers its power in a linear fashion and returns a healthy MPG. Of course, if its raw power that you're after, go for a Red/Black edition and get the extra BhP

Gone - MY15 1.4i Excite 3 Door Deep Sea Blue (with brilliant heated steering wheel)

I own a 1.4 n/a and its got a terrible performace chart mate. I would get the 1.0T as you will get good power and probably better MPG as my 1.4 n/a gets around 35-40mpg which is about 350ish to a full tank.

I have a 1.0 sting r and i find the engine to be great, very refind any the 6 speed gearbox is one of the best, but you need to test drive the different models yourself to see which you like.

The 1.0T is by far the better engine. There have been a few horror stories about them failing but I'd say no more so than any other engine. If something like that worries you then take out a used car warranty when the manufacture one expires for anything critical.

I had a 1.4na as a courtesy car for a couple of weeks and it was gutless. Round town it was OK but on the open road it was painful. So personally I'd steer clear.

Also you don't have to rev the nuts off the 1.0T to make good progress. People only say that because compared to the 1.4T the torque band is higher up the rev range. It's still a very capable engine and is comparably as quick as the 1.4T standard vs standard.
