PT Cruiser was a great car. Always wanted one from the day I seen the concept. It's the old 'hot rod' interest coming out. Don't worry, it wasn't plastered with shiny plastic with a big exhaust, it was more classic than puke inducing.

Only problem with it was due to my drive to work I was only getting around 25mpg in start stop traffic both ways.

My current car is a Corsa sri 1.4 which was bought after trading in a 1.7cdti Astra. Before that it was another Astra and before that a Corsa - theres a theme here...

My personal favorite was the 1.7 Astra, it was used when I bought it and came with non standard alloys and it was pretty quick, plus the 6 gears helped. However the only issue I had with it was 'bubbling' as Vauxhall called it. The technician (on the 4th try) told me it was air escaping from the fuel system, now im no expert but I do know diesel works on compression so there should be no air in it. Anyway, not my worry now.

Currently ive only had the car less than a week and im really pleased with it. Im struggling to get a comfortable driving position but that will come in time.

My first car that I learnt to drive in was a Ford Fiesta Mk4 1.25. Had that for about 6 months then upgraded to a Fiesta MK5 Zetec S 1.6 which I kept for almost 4 years.

Since those two I've had...

Honda Civic Type R EP3 running around 245bhp before it met an untimely end due to a bad winter where I slid off the road and hit a wall.
Citron Saxo VTS for a run about while sorting out the Civic (quick for what it was but the build quality was shocking).
Vauxhall Corsa VXR Nurburgring
Skoda Fabia vRS SE 1.9 TDi with a mild map approx 165-170bhp - went like stink but the handling left a lot to be desired.
Renault Clio Sport 197, very similar to the Civic type R in a lot of ways. Engine/gearbox not quite as good but the handling and steering feel were better.

My current car is a Vauxhall Corsa 1.4T SRi VX-Line which I've had for a couple of months now. Had no intention of getting rid of the Clio really but the running costs were starting to annoy (28-29MPG on a good day) and with just buying a house I couldn't justify keeping it. Wanted something nearly new with a good balance of manufacture warranty and far cheaper to run. The Corsa fits the bill nicely, it's got a bit of poke and I can already see the savings in fuel mileage. Tempted to go for a bluefin remap after it's second service though as I do miss the power a bit. But it's also nice driving something a bit more modern and relaxing.

Numerous motorcycles, including 2 x Triumph 650 Bonnevilles, 2 x 750 Norton Commandos, 2 x 750 Hondas, i Honda Gold wing.
Mini Cooper (original type) Vauxhall VX4/90 Rover 3500 V8
7 Corsa prior to this one, Bs, Cs, Ds. High number as used as my Driving school cars, and traded in at 30k - 40k miles. The last D was allowed to get to 6 years old after I retired, as we had a Volvo as a "main" car"
Fiesta 1.0 100PS Zetec
Corsa E Design 90PS 5 door with heated seats/steering wheel & spare wheel. Jan 17
Jaguar Xe Portfolio 180 PS Nov 16
The price/spec range of the Design and the Fiesta Zetec are roughly the same, but there are plus and minus points for both. The Corsa has a much nicer engine around town, the Fiesta is too high geared, 3rd can't be engaged until 26, 4th until 37, so in town you use mainly 1st and 2nd. The Corsa has heated seats and steering wheel, the Fiesta heated power-folding mirrors. (I miss the latter). The Fiesta has front discs, the corsa all 4 wheels, the Fiesta has a slightly bigger boot & split rear seats, the Corsa just a folding seat. With pluses and minuses for both, I chose the Corsa E after 3 years expereince of the Ford. Don't know 'bout mpg figures yet, never managed more than 34.9 on the Fiesta. Neither will match the xe though, 54 on a poor day, 59.8 on an average one!

These posts have made a great read: here's my contribution.

Ford Anglia 105E, it was free: sold it for 30 shillings (£1-50).
Morris Minor (side-valve, you could do the head gasket by the road).
Morris Minor ohv, passed my test in it.
Ford Prefect, ohv and electric wiper upgrades.
Ford Cortina, lots of brazing and filler.
Austin A55, got vandalized,
Austin A60, more filler.
Triumph 2.5 PI Mk2 auto, carb conversion.
Triumph 2.5 PI Mk1, as above (no PAS, good thing I was young and strong).
Peugeot 604SL 2.7 auto, 18 tears and over 100K. Head gaskets on a wet-liner V6: great fun.
Mini auto, (inherited): 6 month's MoT used up, scrapped.
Mercedes-Benz 260E auto, 130,000 miles when I got it: lasted nine years.
Vauxhall Corsa C 1.2 SXI easytronic, one failure in over 100,000 miles.
Vauxhall Corsa E 1.4 Design easytronic, mostly good so far.

And: Lambretta's LD125, GT200 (225 upgrade), SX200, Suzuki's A100, GT185 (passed my test on it),
TS 185, another TS185, Honda CDU250, Honda CB500, WSCC bus pass.

Posts of this kind: keep up the good work. Corsa E issues? all OK at the mo.
