Start/Stop not working

Post by RoyalSheepy » Tue May 08, 2018 8:28 pm

Hi everyone,

So I bought my car a couple of months ago (Corsa E 1.3 cdti ecoflex) and not once have I experienced the Start/Stop system.

I take the car on regular long journeys every day to charge the battery, and the only things in the car taking power is my dashcam in the 12V socket and my phone in the USB socket.

I don't think it's the battery, and I have read the manual thoroughly ensuring I do everything to make the Start/Stop system work, and yet it still doesn't want to work.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, I have noticed on mine, stop/start will not work if the heater fan is on, apart from that works fine.
Even if eco is turned off, it always turns it's self back on next time you start the car.

So make sure the fan is off,
Turn off heated rear window if on..

Lucky begger. I wouldn't even try to make it work again.

Cheers for the reply!

Okie dokie, so I’ll try switching the air to cold and the fan off. Hopefully that’ll work :) Will post an update tomorrow.

Not sure about the fan speed control inhibiting the stop/start. Mine works with the fan on.

Check that the 'Air Distribution' control is not turned fully clockwise (demist/defrost setting) that will inhibit the stop/start.

Also on mine, the Auto-stop was inhibited when I had under 15-20% oil life left.

It returned to normal after the oil change.

Took me a couple of days to work it out, but definitely will not work with the heater fan on!

Oil life is at around 79%, fan direction is always set to the face.

Do you think the dashcam in the 12V socket and the phone plugged in could be causing this?

No harm in trying it without the dashcam.

Assuming everything else is working, are you sure the battery is OK!

You might have to consider taking it to a garage.

I'm pretty sure the battery is ok, it's giving no signs of a dying battery; I will get a health check on it very soon though.

I've tried unplugging the dash cam just before coming to a stop, and still no Start/Stop.

Also tried phoning up Vauxhall, they were useless. They wanted me to pay around £60 - £100 to diagnose the problem as my car has only just gone out of warranty.

Will try more stuff to try and get it working, but I don't really know where to start when I've done everything by the book :/
