Tron Styling & The Law

Post by lubian08 » Thu Jan 16, 2020 8:39 pm

Hi guys,

I was wanting to do some reflective pinstriping to my car, I have a white LE and want to add some white 1cm width reflective pinstripe to make it a little more attractive at night. Something like this... but in white

Image

I've read online but can't find a definite answer.

Any help on if this is legal or not would be great. I have a friend who's done this and hasn't had any issues as well as a lot of people doing it out there but I just want to be safe.

Thanks.

Nothing illegal about this in the UK, unless what is done is offensive, or immitates an emergency service vehicle

I would be doing the exact same just with white reflective instead of yellow. So it's legal to do it?

I would have to tell me insurance, wouldn't I?

Sorry for the obvious questions but just want to be sure before doing it.

I am not aware of any law preventing you from adding refelctive tape to your vehicle. Commercial vehicles do it all the time.

The only issues with signage etc is when it impersonates an emergency service vehicle, or if the graphics or wording were offensive.

Hi.
Yes you would need to notify your insurer of this change.

Would be really interested to see how this looks if you do end up doing it 👍🏻
